About Us

ABOUT US

Thank you for visiting our web site. We are the Rigdons, Matt, Sara, Katie and Connor. We personally take care of our 2 vacation cabins here in the beautiful blue ridge mountains of NC. We live in the area and we strive to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. So know that we are close and will do our best to help with any unforseen problems that arise. Matt is a jack of all trades and can do just about anything. If he can't do it he knows someone that can. He is also owner and operator of a small excavating company. Sara works part time as a home health nurse, Volleyball and basketball coach. She will be the one who answers your calls, emails or texts and takes care of the business side of the rentals.Katie is 15 years old and is our basketball star. She is a talented in art and loves to write stories. Connor is 10 years old and is our miracle baby. You can read his story in our cabins. He has had a rough start to life with 9 different surgeries but he is a true blessing. He loves music, jumping on the trampoline and playing basketball. In 2003 Matt who is a very ambitious person decided he wanted to build a log cabin. So with no previous experience he tackled the task. In the summer of 2005 he finally finished it. Then Sara decided it turned out so good that she wanted to use it as a vacation home for others to enjoy here in the mountains. That first cabin had a huge walnut tree in the front yard so that is where our name came from. Since then we have built 2 more and remodeled 2 for vacations rentals. We had as many as 5 rental cabins at one time but we have sold all of them except one. Country Blessings cabin is one of them that sold but we help our new owners and now good friends rent it. Mtn Memories was recently remodeled in August 2009. We named it "Mtn Memories" cabin because this used to be our family home for 12 years.

This comfortable Cabin is secluded yet very close to shopping, restaurants and attractions. It has easy access even in the winter. This cabin is only 2 miles from Ski Sugar. It features beautiful cherry wood floors, large family room with gas log fireplace and 37" LCD TV and a pond/waterfall in front stocked with several different kinds of fish. No fishing however but you are welcome to feed the fish while you are here (except not in the winter). You will enjoy our 15 pound catfish Leroy. Relax in the outdoor hot tub after a hard day of skiing or hiking. Sit on the deck and enjoy the sights and sounds of the pond. It’s beautifully maintained and comfortable for up to 8 people. This cabin is recently constructed. This a spacious 800 sq foot 1 bedroom cabin. The 2 person hot tub is located just outside the master suite on the covered deck. Beautifully decorated with country decor. It is easy accessible and not far from area activities and shopping. It has central heat/air. Enjoy the view sitting on the front deck. It has a big yard for the kids or pets to play. Relax in the outdoor hot tub after a hard day of skiing or hiking. It’s beautifully maintained and comfortable for 4 people. Please note that you are responsible for all guests in your party.

Please read this document carefully to avoid being charged additional fees.

· General Rental Info: Do not move the furniture around in the units, it could cause damage. Upon arrival please notify us within 1 hour or by 10 AM the next morning if checking in late if there are any problems with your accommodations. If a vacation residence should become unavailable for rental for any reason, we reserve the right to substitute comparable accommodations if available. No Refunds due to mechanical malfunction.

· Occupancy & Age: If you exceed the maximum occupancy, you will be asked to leave. You must be at least 21 years old to reserve a rental property. You must provide us with the number of people & vehicles in your party. We only rent to responsible adults and no house parties will be permitted. You will be asked to leave with NO REFUND and charges will be charged to your credit card to cover damages !

· Check in/Check out: Check in is at 3 PM or after. Check out is at 11 AM. Early check in and out is available at an additional charge but must be arranged in advance. Lock boxes are located at cabins for check in.

· Pets: Pets are allowed at many of our rentals. The pet fee is $15/night per pet and is non refundable. Bringing pets without notice will result in automatic forfeiture of damage deposit.

· Reservation: Return this document and the signed lease agreement with a 50% advance rental amount to hold your rental. Payment and rental agreement must be received within 2 days. The balance and security deposit are due 7 days prior to your arrival. Failure to return the rental agreement and/or make a payment within 2 business days will result in cancellation of your rental. Reservations made for less than 7 days out are due at booking (no exceptions).

· Payments: Checks accepted 14 days prior to check-in. We accept MasterCard,Visa, AMEX, Discover.

· Security/Damage Deposit: The $200 damage deposit is fully refundable within fourteen days of termination of occupancy provided that real and personal property are in the same condition as when occupancy commenced and all terms of this agreement are met. . Tenants are liable for all replacements and repairs needed to attain the same condition as when occupancy commenced other than normal cleaning and laundry of linens. The deposit must be placed on hold to a credit card. An automatic forfeiture of the security deposit will be enforced if any of the following: Dishonest about age, number of people, pets brought without notice, evidence of smoking in cabin.

· Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be made within 14 days prior to arrival. A fee of $50 will be charged for all cancellations outside the 14 day window and all advanced rent payments will be refunded less the $50 fee. For cancellations made inside the 14 day window no refund will be issued unless the unit is re-rented for the same time period. If the unit is re-rented advanced payment will be refunded less a $50 cancellation fee.

· Smoking: Smoking is not allowed in any rental property. If you smoke, please go outside and close the door. Do not throw butts over the deck onto the ground. Failure to comply with this policy will result in loss of security deposit.

· Housekeeping: The cleaning fee is standard in some cabins. Some cabins we do not charge a cleaning fee but do require the tenant to do certain cleaning tasks before check out. Cleaning instructions are spelled out on the lease and in the cabins. The cabins will be inspected after each stay and the cleaning instructions must be followed to avoid being charged a cleaning fee.

· Trash: Trash must be placed in an outside trash can. Call us if you need trash picked up before your stay is over.

· Fireplaces: With gas log fireplaces, DO NOT TURN OFF PILOT LIGHT! And please follow instructions for use posted near the fireplaces.

· Weather: If you are vacationing in the High Country during the winter months, please come prepared to drive in snow and/or ice to reach your destination. We do recommend chains or 4 wheel drive, as most of our homes are on secondary roads. We are unable to refund rental fees due to inclement weather.

· Furnishings & Equipment: All properties are furnished with the basic supplies, glasses, dishes, pots / pans, silverware, appliances, starter kit of paper products, trash bags, laundry detergent and dish soap. Don’t forget your directions page. The direction page will be emailed to you. It will contain directions, lock box code and emergency contact numbers.

· Appliances & Equipment: We cannot guarantee that breakdowns (hot tub, TV, DVD, etc…) will not occur, however we will make every effort to ensure repairs will be made as quickly as possible. NO REFUNDS or discounts due to malfunctions!!!! Do not adjust the refrigerator settings, it takes a little time to cool down after placing warm items in it. Please do not flush sanitary napkins or tampons down the toilet.

· Grilling: Please do not leave hot grills unattended.

· Smoke Detector: These are installed for your protection. Please notify us upon arrival of any problems.

· Lost Keys: $ 10.00 fee will be charged for lost keys.

· Lost, stolen or forgotten items: Walnut Tree Log Cabin Rentals is not responsible for lost, stolen or forgotten items. Please check the cabin carefully before departing.

· Taxes & Fees: All rentals are subject to sales tax of 8%.

Only Country Blessings is Pet Friendly

We want you to be able to bring your pets with you to our rentals, but we have to impose a few rules and rates.

Pet Fees (per pet)

$15/night per pet

1.Pets are NOT allowed on the beds or on furniture

2.No pets under one year old

3.Pets can NOT be left in the cabins unattended unless they are placed in a portable kennel

4.There is a TWO pet MAXIMUM

5.You must walk your PET on a LEASH when on our property

6.Failure to observe these rules may result in early departure, loss of all rental monies and security deposit
